Research and Planning: Music Magazine Analysis 1

The genre of music for the magazine cover is RnB/Hip-Hop which is what I want my magazine to be like. The Masthead 'Vibe' is very urban, relating to the type of magazine. The Masthead's font isn't very clear, because Ciara's head covers it up. This shows that the magazine is well known on the market because at first glance you know what magazine it is, without making the title clear. The image on the cover is quite controversial as she doesn't seem to have much clothes on except from her shoes, which is suitable for the genre as it is quite a controversial genre. The artist (Ciara) is the main interview/article in the magazine, shown by her being the only image on the front. She is positioned in a long shot, showing her full body crouched down. The slight low angle shot makes her look dominant, which is relevant in the genre of music because its all about power and ''who's the best''.

Ciara is being represented as a powerful woman, but her posture shows her being quite insecure but powerful at the same time, this also relates to the article title ''I'm not gonna hold back, too much'' as although she seams powerful and dominant, she is still going to hold back that little bit and that is shown through the image. This makes the artist seam very true, which relates to the genre of music. Using the 3 colour rule (Red, White and Black) it looks calm and soothing (black and white), but with a loud undertone (red). The red colour makes the magazine stand out more, making it more eye-catching.

The target audience for this magazine is for fans of RnB/Hip-Hop music. I would say the age range would be for 14/15 year old's up to the age of about 30. The usual magazine is unisex, but this issue seams more for females.
